Pat Savage

I have played basketball for my high school team (Onslow College) for the past four seasons, the last two on the varsity team. This past season (May-July 2002) I was co-captain. During this season I also played on the Mana Tigers Men's team that came 2nd in the National Men's Division 3 tournament.

I am 6'1" and weigh 168 lbs. I turned 17 on June 23rd, 2002. I live in Wellington, New Zealand, and have dual citizenship in New Zealand and the United States.

For the past three summers I have participated in a week-long basketball camp held in Nelson, New Zealand with some of the top basketball players and coaches in the country, including Tab Baldwin, who coached me in 2001 and recently coached the New Zealand Men's Team to 4th place in the World Basketball Finals. This has been a great way for me to improve my skills and to receive expert coaching, it has been a great experience.

In 2001 I was selected as a member of the Wellington Regional Under-18 Team, and we went on to win the National Championship ! It was great to play on such a high level team, and I really enjoyed the competition and the successes we acheived.

Other awards I have received include MVP for my high-school team, 2001 and being nominated for Wellington Sportsperson of the Year, 2001. I have also been awarded Best Attitude and Best Team Player at the Nelson Basketball Camp in 2001 and 2002, respectively.

I play shooting guard and point guard, although I sometimes play small forward for my high-school team. I am good at driving strongly to the hoop on offense, but I feel my best attribute is my hustle and desire, commitment on defence, and my hardwork in games and at practices that I feel will help me achieve in the long run.

My ambition is to play basketball for a college or university and make a major contribution to our team's success.
